Merit-based Incentive Payment System (MIPS) Value Pathway G0054 is titled “Coordinating Stroke Care to Promote Prevention and Cultivate Positive Outcomes,” and it focuses on the clinical theme of providing fundamental prevention and treatment of those patients at risk for or that have had a stroke. This article provides clinical documentation guidelines for patients diagnosed with a non-traumatic cerebral infarction.

Merit-based Incentive Payment System (MIPS) Value Pathway G0053 is titled “Advancing Rheumatology Patient Care,” and it focuses on the clinical theme of providing fundamental treatment and management of rheumatology conditions. One of the Quality Measures (QM) that may be reported for MVP G0053 is QM 177, which is titled “Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA): Periodic Assessment of Disease Activity.” The clinical documentation for patients diagnosed with RA will be discussed in this Article.

Merit-based Incentive Payment System (MIPS) Value Pathway G0055 is titled “Advancing Care for Heart Disease,” and it focuses on the clinical theme of providing fundamental treatment and management of costly clinical conditions that contribute to or may result from heart disease.  One of the Quality Measures (QM) that may be reported for MVP G0055 is QM 005, which is intended to reflect the quality of services provided for patients with heart failure (HF) and decreased left ventricular systolic function.

Merit-based Incentive Payment System (MIPS) Value Pathway (MVP) M0001 is titled “Advancing Cancer Care.” Key documentation and ICD-10-CM coding guidelines for reporting neoplasm related pain are discussed in this Blog.

Merit-based Incentive Payment System (MIPS) Value Pathway G0057 is titled “Adopting Best Practices and Promoting Patient Safety with Emergency Medicine.” One of the Quality Measures (QM) that may be reported for MVP G0057 is QM 415.  “Glasgow Coma Scale (GCS) score less than 15” is one of the numerator options for QM 415.

In the calendar year (CY) 2023 Medicare Physician Fee Schedule (PFS) Final Rule, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) added the Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology (ONC) Direct Review Attestation Requirement that was inadvertently omitted from the Promoting Interoperability performance category, for the following seven Merit-based Incentive Payment System (MIPS) Value Pathways (MVPs) that were finalized in the CY 2022 PFS Final Rule.

The Calendar Year 2023 Medicare Physician Fee Schedule Final Rule finalized the following new Merit-based Incentive Payment System (MIPS) Value Pathways (MVPs) that are now available to report beginning with the 2023 performance year:
-Advancing Cancer Care
-Optimal Care for Kidney Health
-Optimal Care for Patients with -Episodic Neurological Conditions
-Supportive Care for Neurodegenerative Conditions
-Promoting Wellness.
